Senseless, Tasteless Man
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Dedicated to Nikolay Klyuev and Sergei Yesenin together
Imagine sunsets written out in Braille
That only blind ones possibly can read,
Where “desolate” reads always, though so pale
That only deaf ones can decode the creed.
Imagine concerts played in vacuum
Of sound, in empty halls that have no seats
Or stage, where instruments make silent hum
At best, where kettle drums produce no beats.
Imagine Bergdorf Goodman stores without
Concessions for Chanel, Guerlain, Dior,
Or, worse, where sweetnesses are turned to drought
Of fragrance, blankness fills life’s scented shore.
These numb scenarios are now each mine
Since you have desecrated true love’s shrine.
