The Frog

The animal that really has it nailed

Is Pondlove Frog.  He doesn’t really care if he

Sits near or far away from family.  Veiled

Among the duckweed his two pupils see

Like periscopes.  His cousins or his aunts

Can stay or go.  Completely nonchalant

He waits.  In boredom of the pool he haunts

The realm of staring.  Here his restaurant

Is situated or it sends his meal.

No matter.  Either one way do.  He waits.

He doesn’t ever wish.  He doesn’t feel

He needs to be some other place with mates.

He doesn’t wish away the time or want

Some other day.  The frog waits, patience gaunt.
