He Sings

He Sings

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

He sings his heartstrings out because of love.

He sings as if he does not have a mind.

He sings because there is no God above.

He sings because his heart has been declined.

He chants the meaning of his mind, the minds

Of others, wiser, long ago and far

From him, of women and of men . . . reminds

Himself, alone, religion is a scar.

He sings his soul out as the prophets say

Although he knows he does not have a soul.

He sings because he cannot bow or pray.

He sings because life’s meaning is a hole.

He sings.  He chants.  He plays his veins as hymns

Since melody and Christ are antonyms.
