“Praise for them springing, fresh from the Word”

It turns out there are spirals that are not

Quite spirals.  See the bobtail squid.  Its spots

And arms and tentacles are in a knot

For striking, grasping prey in gripping knots.

The prey don’t really care if they are gripped

By spirals or by something else.  The tight

Cups hard in suction clamp have harshly slipped

Themselves around the victims, vice-like curling plight

Their fate.  The bobtail squid cares not one whit

If it be graceful, galaxy-like shape

Or not.  The squid wants only chewy bit

To gobble.  Squids crave only yummy rape.

The world the squid inhabits doesn’t care

About mere beauty, loving bite and snare.
