What Would Mary Have Done if Gabriel Visited Her Again After the Crucifixion?

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

As easy as a Christmas morning joy

To find yourself in when you woke and went

To see through angel hair the tree all glowy

In dark of living room, the light with scent

Of evergreen mixed in with shine of gifts

In wrapping paper made of scarlet glee,

As easy as that jubilance that lifts

Like white archangel wings beside the tree,

That easy seeming now for hearts to slip

Back into love for someone who has hurt

You, easy as emotion to re-flip

Affection, easy as a climax squirt.

You know that he will only hurt again

And yet you hope for satin ribbon pain.
