As porridge lacking butter, music round

The oatmeal table had marimba notes

And so the almost clockwork singing filled

The morning with an innocence like oats.

The innocence and music almost trilled

And yodelled.  Eating toast, we didn’t miss

Our father who had gone out long before

To work among his bees.  We had calm bliss.

He brought home love and sweetness we could pour

On cereal with whiteness.  Up above

Our school days rose a singing sun and love.
