Sanctified Clash of Keys in the Ballet Petrushka

Sanctified Clash of Keys in the Ballet Petrushka

The skylark sings above the urban square

Of green and oaks enclosed within the streets

And offices and houses.  Everywhere

The skylark lives — he sings.  His singing greets

The morning, noon and afternoon and lends

Its message even to the railway line

And station.  Skylarks’ note-filled singing sends

Mixed melodies to towns and makes a shrine

To beauty even where the clacking sound

CHORD OF THE WEEK #1 – THE PETRUSHKA CHORD

Of magpies blends as part of symphonies

Of birds and trains and vans.  The whole is crowned

By angel skylark chants in April’s breeze.

Competing keys make clashing music notes

Anointed by the skylarks’ holy throats.
