The Moth for the Testosterone Star

The Moth for the Testosterone Star

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

One truth that adolescence taught you hard

Is loving is far better than the love

You get.  Both tall and sharper than the Shard

In London, loving takes you far above

And painfully beyond what you will get

From being loved.  Perhaps much later life

Will bring you other loves and in their net

Will be fulfillment, what you find with wife,

Produce, the love for daughters and your sons.

Yet even there you find again to give

Your love is better than orgasmic suns

Especially when you must then forgive.

The crushing loves of teenage years cannot

Compete.  Those hormone loves are almost naught.
