For Abhishek Yadav

You know why Crusoe felt a terror when

He saw that footprint.  He had been alone

So long, had learned to love the lack of men

So much that solitude for him had grown

To be the beauty that a hermit knows.

Another man (or men) would ruin that.

The peace of self-sufficiency that grows

Inside because of it went heart-bang splat.

He had to face a greater challenge now,

The trial of dealing with another man.

The hero grasped that he had lost the how

And wherefore of this menace, brother man.

The trouble that a beast like that can be

Came hammering hard.  He longed for Saint John’s sea.
