Till B-r-e-a-d-t-h Do Us Part
A tinsel throne is what the world provides
For women on each wedding day. While they
Are dressed for it in satin silk, the brides
Are treated like a princess’s bouquet
Held up for admiration. But then life
Takes over. Mother of the screaming brat
Beside her as the queen of kitchen, wife
Who gets to clean the toilet, then eclat
Of womanhood–abandonment by men
When fattened middle age sets in for flesh
That’s younger when the guys develop yen
For slimmer, slinky skin that’s far more fresh.
But don’t despair. The brides have menopause
And alimony then from divorce laws.
