Universal Charity, Agape Love and All That

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

If only midges buzzed like Buddhist monks

Or like the Jains, so ethical no bites

Would stab the skin and flesh.  No flaming chunks

Of pain would be involved in sucking rites.

If only flies would keep themselves away

From ears and meat, and picnic hands need not

Flap frantically from laid out sweet treats tray

And left us to enjoyments unfraught.

If only honeybees would stick to blooms

And nectar, pollen and to filling cells

With honey, doing only zooms, zooms, zooms

For queen and sisters, never doing stinging swells.

If only Christians worshiped God above

And never hated, showing only love.
