Twenty-four Carat Sapphire-colored Songs

Twenty-four Carat Sapphire-colored Songs

If God made angels blue, both blue and gold

In wing, blue haired, but lavender in robe,

Of course they might look far too sky-blue cold

And so in yellow light He might englobe

Them, warming them in heaven’s airs.  The sea

That they fly over would reflect their blue

Inside its waves of crystal.  Christ would see

Them in perfection, beauties through and through.

A dusting of the gold from heaven’s streets

Would cling to Seraph wings and to the hems

Of purple lovely as the Paraclete’s

Divinity embroidered with blue gems.

Gilt haloes and then golden auras would

Shine there among their choiring brotherhood.
