Alloy of Stainless Steel and Gold

Alloy of Stainless Steel and Gold

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

When you came into life, my life, the full moon rose

At height of day.  No, not a quarter moon

Or crescent moon, this full moon shed mixed glows

On earthly trees and flowers.  This brilliant noon

Was filled with not just sunlight’s gold but moon’s

Most gracious virgin vernal beams, the light

Of fullest moon untouched by craters.  Moons

Unslammed by space’s trash, the moons in flight

From darkness of the night, these moons above

The scarring earth’s own moon has known, new spheres

Of orbal, brightest light, these moons of love

Became the sun and moon combined sans tears.

This one full moon, this one full noontime sun,

Aligned, became the realm of love twice spun.
