“One day still fierce ’mid many a day struck calm”
~ Robert Browning, The Ring and the Book

A caring middle-class Republican

Is not an oxymoron.  “Paradox”

Is also not the truth.  A publican

Teetotaller is not quite orthodox,

But maybe he has happened in a Sci-Fi

Imagination.  Hell might hold a still

Fierce day with tortured screaming Hi-Fi

But probably the victims on a grill

Will not be still.  A day struck calm is not

Quite paradoxical because the peace

Might be resultant from the striking watt

Force killing swimmers with divine caprice.

A kinkless sonnet contradicts the point

Of poetry but that would disappoint.
