The Cosmic Certainty is Propulsion

The Cosmic Certainty is Propulsion

A double nature of the universe:

All parts of it endeavor to remain the same

And every part aspires to be a nurse

To its demise.  This dual colored aim

(Or aims that strive as one) is like a spring

That yearns to be a spring forever yet

Desires to reach for summer.  May would cling

To cool of days in April—and beget

The ripened apple of the fall.  The heat

Of August would retain itself in days

But longs for autumn nights.  It is a fleet

That sails from suns and through November haze.

..The vacillations of unsettled March

….And April are Cassandra’s shaking arch.
