Supernal Present

Supernal Present

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Do not gaze forward. Do not try to glimpse
Tomorrow. Scan today with blindness’ eyes.
She holds her past and future as she primps
Your present for you. You will be unwise
As curious Pandora if you lift
A lid of hidden time. It hides itself
To bless you. Wisdom does not want to drift
Away from now. The present is the shelf
That you are offered. Pull those volumes down
And open them because they are your sea.
You do not need a prophet’s futile frown

To guide you. Take the present’s jubilee.
Eternal is beyond you. Grab this vow:
“I take the present as my eon, now.”
