SEDGE WARBLER (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) – songbird factfile

Each singing bird is like a singing star

(Though other singing birds are in his sphere)

So altogether they, both near and far,

Are like a galaxy of wooing.  Hear

Them.  They are each, though, in their proper realm

And fill it each with passions and their light.

They, each a spirit-colored sovereign elm

Inside an elm-tree forest, green, share light,

So proper light joins proper light beyond

Each other.  They enlighten neighbor trees

And stars and in this sharing, sharing bond

Like spirit gleams in swirls of galaxies.

Though separate in their isolations, they

Are communal like creatures in a spray.
