Sado Island

A haiku does not aim for beauty.  In

The essence of the poem beauty waits.

A prima donna stays behind the thin

Wing curtains.  Singing opens up the gates

That lead to heaven’s see-through golden streets,

But haiku uses basic, daily things

Placed side by side.  A vision rises, meets

Supernal logic.  Simplicity sings

Because when simple items are perceived

Together, immortality results.

When brought together, details have achieved

Sublimity.  Eternity exults.

..The waves, the distant island, then the sweep

….Of stars bring home an unexpected deep.

………..     .          Sado Island with the Milky Way
