One night he went to see an opera at

The Sydney Opera House; well, no, not quite

An opera.  Other ones he’s seen went splat

Contrasted with The Gondoliers that night.

It was as if the operetta had

Been meant for this production only.  Laughs

Galore came crowding from the seats.  Bad

Productions he had seen before seemed gaffes

Considered in this night’s production.  Howls,

Hilarity and heaps of fun spilled out

From audience to stage.  Guffaws from bowels

Left previous productions in a pout.

  We wonder if the actors, singers, all

    The cast delighted leaving us in thrall.
