Non-identical Twins

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

The one withheld, withheld — sensed well

The present had to be the future tense.

Tomorrow was the place for hardened swell,

For force, fulfillment, time shoved very dense,

Intensity condensed, exploding taste

Of salt and Clorox (watered down) but strong

In gushing, pushing. and for lust so chaste

Of innocence that life insisted, wrong.

The other yelped a silent yes that time

Was less than needed.  He said, “Yesterday

Is lost to us.  Tomorrow is a crime.

Tomorrow is a righteous disarray.

“We have no time for virgin sacred vow.

I give you vexed eternal feeling now.
