A cat has ways of lying that dogs can

Never match.  Cats catch a wink just about

Anywhere—on a chair; beside the man

Whom they’ve converted from dawg-loving doubt;

In front of banks of books that they don’t care

To notice.  The beauty of cats is that

They never pout, or if they do, they glare

To hide it.  They’d rather not have a spat

With bouncy dogs.  Cats don’t get in a flap

Unless they’re forced to, as when canines flop

Around the cats’ domain.  They’d rather NAP.

They’d rather lie as conked out as a mop.

  Cats certainly do not believe in laws . . .

    Except they teach their dogs the rule of claws.
