I John 1:5

               I John 1:5

A damask tablecloth embraced by light
From candelabra, and a Christmas tree
Awake with twinkling, and Diwali night
Are tempting us to think that light means glee.
John’s God is light but too much brilliance blights:
When Moses climbed the mountain of the law,
God dared not show him splendor at it heights.
Jehovah’s backside was what Moses saw.
We’re told to look at sun eclipses through
Smoked glass, and men who witnessed atom blast
Experiments hid their eyes.  Brightest blue

Is light from raging stars.  Their fires are vast
Enough to kill us if our sun were hot
As that.  God spares our souls his strongest Ought.
