Hollow Splendor

         Hollow Splendor

The hollow Easter bunnies and hollow

Metallic, glossy Easter eggs in foil

Are brownly easy enough to swallow,

Milk chocolate being what it is.  Smooth voile

On tongue, as light and pleasant to the taste,

They seem to be denials of the thing

That they supposedly encode, the waste

Of death in triumph made of God’s upswing

And resurrection.  Hollowness implies

A glory non-pareil, not made of light

Or matter, something spiritual in guise.

It is a weightiness that must take flight.

Because its mass is far too huge to stay

….Entombed, this hollowness has much to say.
