One thing I really loathe about the way
Most people now communicate online
With friends and family is that textings say
As little as is possible, decline
To say enough to make the meaning clear.
Be brief, brief, brief because of course what counts
Is your own precious time. Do not appear
To care about them. Brevity discounts
The other person’s interests. Be as short
As you can be to save a second there
Or here though time saved causes slips to thwart
Your meaning—or mean something quite unfair.
So, say as little as you can and rush
To other tasks. You do not need to blush.
