When strictest music and trim verse forms come
Together, then is beauty found. Across
In England Chaucer listened to succumb
To Guillaume’s grandeur. Music was the gloss
On poetry, or maybe verse was bright,
The lacquer sheen on melodies, the notes
Interpretation, or the lines gave might
To harmony. Brocade came out of throats.
Across the sea came floating arts that gave
An inspiration Geoffrey needed. He
Took Guillaume to his heart, inside the nave,
No, altar of his creativity.
..Ars nova raised a dreaming vision for
….London’s Pegasus. It made Chaucer soar.
