Eternity, Tymbals and Mere Time

Eternity, Tymbals and Mere Time

Ecclesiastes 9:5

Though nothing known of death’s forever song

Waits over in cicadas’ singing, they

Sing on forever in a day as long

As days have ever been, as time astray

As in eternity.  Though time began

When Christ spoke light and stars in glow of breath

That shone along his tongue, before a man

Or woman breathed, before the threat of death

Burst forth, a timeless time when time was not,

When only God’s supernity shone forth,

Yes, then in mystery’s realm God’s freedom shot

Out matter so that time stretched thronged thenceforth.

Cicadas know not anything.  All this

Is utterly beyond their timbal hiss.
