Dreary Literary Theory

     Dreary Literary Theory

There’s nothing quite so clear that scholars can’t

Transmogrify it to opacity.

There’s nothing academics won’t enchant

Away to mud with their audacity.

They do this with their stupid fancy words

And jargon they deploy to make them seem

More hifalutin’ than us little turds

Beneath them.  They find reasons to esteem

What everyone can see is just plain

Sense as . . . naivety.  They use deft tricks

Of logical hairsplitting.  Making a stain

On white dog terms, these Derridas are ticks.

When Marxism and Freud ain’t enough,

These guys come up with Deconstruction stuff.

“Deconstruction. … Originated by the philosopher Jacques Derrida, deconstruction is a metaplasm of Martin Heidegger’s Destruktion that refers to an event whereby a hierarchical binary opposition is overturned to create space for the emergence of a new concept.”  Wikipedia
