The snapdragon’s genes provoke its petals
To veil its hidden hospitality
Until Dior-like insect foot settles
Upon the flower’s velvet shelf. The bee—
A gem that Fabergé would have designed
If he had been blessed with stupendous gifts,
Had been Mormonly shaped and, thus, Divined—
Its flawlessly, curl-fashioned tongue lifts
Deep nectar, the drink of non-existent
gods. Never mind the doubtfully real eye
That found the bloom.  Scientists, resistant
To faith in a Creator Mind, deny
A loving destiny.  And here’s the thing—
Why would He make that bumbling venom sting?
