David Rejected Weaker Emotion at Least Once in His Strength

“To be ungrateful to your intellect is just as bad as ingratitude to a benefactor.” ~ R. H. Blyth, Zen in English Literature and Oriental Classics, “The Pale Cast of Thought,” 171

A feeling is more potent than a thought
Unless the thought is from a genius, Blake
Or Jesus.  Thoughts a row boats; feeling, yacht,
Thought a garter snake, feeling cobra snake.
The mass of people go their feelings’ path.
Ideas, demanding ones, these shy away
From.  David fought the champion from Gath
With words at first and then men saw him sway.
The boy was thought, the giant, emotion.
The cobra sways to playing of the flute,
Our feelings slaves of skirling, notes’ motion,

While thoughts belong to God, the Absolute.

God’s love is not emotion.  It swells far
Above that.  It is like a gravid star.
