Choking on Untruth
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Although the holy ones insist that we
Extend beyond our bodies and mere time,
That we have SOULS and i…m…m…o…r…t…a…l…i…t…y,
Such doctrines are factitious and a crime
Against true thinking. They are born of fear
And nothing more in fact. The soul does not
Exist, a separate entity. To smear
This truth with Swedenborg’s enthralling snot
Spread out across our vision brings the worst of smog.
The prophets and the seers are the blind
Ones, like an unenlightened small swamp’s frog

With spider legs in throat. Such “thoughts” are rind.
Aquinas saw his tundra tome as “straw.”
This soul stuff sticks in truest thinkers’ crop.
