“And the angel departed” Luke 1:38

“And the angel departed” Luke 1:38

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Thoughts, passions, all that thrust in thrills inside

You, these are like the drugs you shoot within

Your veins, but thoughts and passions give the stride

We want, so whether that is mortal sin

Or some immortal righteousness, the glow

Within your veins is like Saint Francis’ blood.

De Sade’s destructiveness is what you know.

You want it like the Scripture’s drowning flood.

A doctrine comes all dressed in holy robe

And wings.  Susceptible, your heart desires

The teaching’s flame of red like scarlet strobe

Lights teaching you of saving spirit fires.

Archangels come as ministers of God

And leave your raped womb and your ribcage awed.
