A Failure by Two Men Sharing the Writing, Back and Forth, of a Sonnet Sequence

A Failure by Two Men Sharing the Writing, Back and Forth, of a Sonnet Sequence

A sonnet sequence is by nature one-
Sided, so far as history is concerned.
So maybe it will be extremely un-
Expected if I say why this one’s turned
Out boringly to fit that mold.  It’s not
Because he cannot write.  He’s brilliant in
More languages than me.  I haven’t sought
Cooperation from him, let him put his spin
On agony and numbness and our joy;
That might explain his silence well enough.
Of course I could adopt the simple ploy
Of writing his perspective as a bluff.
But stichomythia would be untrue
Since love is blind to other points of view.
