A-ak

                           A-ak

A-ak—one of three forms of ancient Korean court music

Now think of things that have no connection
With you, or almost none.  A-ak measures
From eons past, beyond resurrection,
Those notes and rhythms that once were treasures
Of thin Confucian, faded Korean
Composers from an ancient court so far
Remote as to be hyperborean
In distance from us, like a falling star
Unseen.  Was that music penned in satin
Of silk by brushes softer than the breath
Of empresses, paler than lost Latin?
Where are they in their melodies of death?
..The Emperor is even further gone,
….Impossible as Hell with glorious dawn.
