They accidentally write their own demise.

They paint and sculpt the doom of blind collapse

Of arts’ acceptance in the eyes

Of men and women not inside the apse

Of academe.  The little magazines

Of tribal editors who hate the tried

And true, those editors with spleens

Against tradition and who bluster snide

Attacks on rhyme and rhythm, or maintain

A crush of silence with rejection of

What Joe and Jane prefer, leave leprous stain

In places that the populace still love.

  They write and publish on a scrawny page

    And leave behind what will not last an age.
