Flown to Rest Forever and Forever

The valley leads to distance and to clouds.

Beyond them comes horizon that we see

With seer’s mind’s eye through the evening shrouds.

Then comes the setting there upon the sea

So everything this moment points beyond

Today.  The deeps of landscape always hint

Infinity.  We do not need a wand.

We do not make an effort.  Christ’s ways hint,

Invisible futurity their sense.

Eternal their duration will not pass.

Such moments linger ever in immense

Tomorrows, each an emerald crevasse.

When moments such as these are gone we know

That they are where the singing birds must go.
