Unparallel Universes

You comprehend a poem in the East,
That means you comprehend the paintings, too.
An ikebana’s powers are increased

Because of rocks and pond and moss with dew
In temple gardens. Eastern arts are one

In essence, choiring silently in thought,
But Western unity is overrun
By liberty. The music here is fraught
With meaning separate from Saint Peter’s dome.
The notes and arch are separate from the stage,
Variety the Western world’s home.
Diversity refuses thinking’s cage.
The East can understand itself throughout.
The West rebels. Its rule is untamed flout.
