Travesty of Singing from the Stage

Travesty of Singing from the Stage

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Just screaming and then shouting—not like jazz

Or any type of music—that is what

We suffer.  Gone are bourbon razzmatazz

STREET MUSIC – playing in Vilassar de Dalt (BCN) #music #swingmusic #banjo #dixieland

Of New Orleans and Pavarotti’s hot

Luciano Pavarotti’s BEST “Nessun Dorma” (New York, 14.01.1980)

And fevered “Nessun dorma.”  Gone is love

In Sutherland who hierarchizes heights

Dame Joan Sutherland – ‘Eccola!’ (The Mad Scene) Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor – YouTube

Of stunning beauty’s gorgeousness (above

The hypnotized hushed orchestra) in flights

Of trills and mordants.  Country Western leaps

Margo Smith Tennessee Yodel

Cliona Hagan – Cowboy Yodel (Official Music Video)

In yodelling are far too fine for these

Pride stage’s screeching “musics.”  Gone are sweeps

Of Indian singing’s Shalimar-like breeze.

But even worse than yelling notes is Rap

Which isn’t music but is — chanting’s crap.
