That Moment When You Fell in Love with Him or Her

That Moment When You Fell in Love with Him or Her

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Whole years that fall away from memory float

Out past to endless space and whether down

Or up they move, they go to realms remote

From normal meaning.  They become a frown

Of blankness that the mind forgets, each year

A subatomic particle that turns

To frozen photon, like a neutron tear

From Satan’s eye where heat no longer burns

Because such moments, so-called years, become

As nothing when contrasted with the times,

The tiny times that we recall, that thrum

Forever when we zap to lovers’ crimes.

Such seconds click like fission splits in veins

Of hearts that never can snuff out flame pains.
