Solemn Piano Music Forever Ecstatic

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

When autumn comes, it comes because it goes

In everyone.  Because it goes, it comes

Outside and in us.  Autumn does not doze

But grows awake.  It wakes in Bach-like sums

In fall’s own leaves that never go away . . .

. . . Completely fugal — here — and supernal,

Supernal orange and yellow, red their sway

As dying in the swayed eyes — eternal —

They promise to return, return again,

Again, and so they do not die.  Slight forms

Of maple leaves, of aspen leaves they stain

Bing Videos

October souls in slightest aspen storms.

Our aspen souls, our maple souls are seen

Forever yellow, red and orange and green.
