Sentimental Scales

     Sentimental Scales

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

“there fell from his eyes as it had been scales” Acts 9:18

The deepest state is not political.

The ocean state is universal, real

As icebergs.  God is analytical

About the actualities.  They peal

Across the galaxies and tiny cells.

Real can’t be fooled.  It’s vast and DNA.

Some scriptures speak of heavens and of hells.

(We hear realities and what they say.)

We want to think they’re friendly and we choose

To think that, positive.  We also think

They may be negative.  We don’t refuse

The possibilities, perfume and stink.

We don’t want sentimental.  If we do,

We may be blinded to the deepest view.
