“One world at a time” ~ Henry David Thoreau

“One world at a time” ~ Henry David Thoreau

Crown of thorns with breathing diamonds

Too many of the world’s religions, faiths,

Philosophies (like Buddha’s) spurn square truth,

Teach, teach and teach that there are deathless wraiths

And spend our time avoiding bare truth

About no afterlives.  Some men like Chuck

Will wrestle spirit meaning out of death

And out of any nonsense.  They will duck

And weave to prove that somewhere mystic breath

Will breathe again to Adam nostrils’ dust.

His long dead ribs will gasp again and heave

Him to immortal glistening, newer lust

To share with double dozened ribbed hot Eve.

We do not need some larger world, immense.

One world is quite enough for those with sense.
