On the Just and the Unjust Alike

On the Just and the Unjust Alike

Schubert: Ganymed, D.544 – Hermann Prey, 1969 – Philips 6573 010 – YouTube

God has this thing S/He chooses to deploy

When looking at the cosmos S/He has made.

S/He turns it on and off, this thing.  S/He’s coy

About revealing this.  Above S/He is arrayed

In splendor so we cannot see Her/Him.

What God does is that S/He refuses to

Think other than to hear the angels’ hymn

God’s glory.  S/He sits still and rigid to

Avoid pure love and hate.  S/He judges me

And you impartially, no bias—hate

And love shelled out to bad and good so S/He

Annuls all choice—so, even-handed fate.

Indifference is what S/He elects.  How rude (!)

That seems, but that is Her/His attitude.
