Not Exactly Hypatia

She struck him as a woman lacking thought,

At least no semblance of a thought that she

Originated.  Taking what she ought

To think, she sometimes tried to find a key

To help adjust philosophy to what

She wanted, but this method had not worked.

Results she manifested were like strut

Of mind but lacking steel since she had shirked

The honesty required.  The thoughts she made

Were replicas or simulacra of

Strict logic, more like poltergeists in shade.

These specters rose from prejudicial love.

She couldn’t shut the door on Christ or God.

She could not be as strong as Aaron’s rod.
