Mystic Music, Subjects and Their Answers

The hidden unity in music comes

From secret truths we seek to find in notes,

Though disparate they be.  This oneness hums

Through life’s apparent clashing din.  Notes

Are grouped in chords and melodies that hold

And do not hold them.  They cannot be held

In books.  Composers write in ink and fold

The scribblings into symphonies or meld

Tones into arias for tenors to

Destroy the notions of disunity.

We learn inside our skeletons how true

This oneness is, how true this unity.

A fugue takes melodies, or mostly one,

And fuses notes like meaning in the sun.
