Late Spring and Early Autumn

Before palmettos flourish out in flower

(In starburst blooms above the sand below),

The coral-colored citrus has its hour

In globes like giant orange pearls on show

In Florida.  They hardly seem to be

Within the same dimension, sphere and star.

It is as if the Christ has forced them free

Apart from one another.  Orbs of moire

(Moire coverings wrapped round as color of

An orange zircon silk) will never greet

Explosions of palmetto cream above

Them.  Tranced two normal marvels never meet.

  Though both are jubilant as angel heights

    At dawn, they both belong to separate rites.
