The butterfly flapped
Away, was gone.  My spirit
Came back inside me.
~ Wafû

The way a comet feels the pull of weight

In weightless space, the weight of sun and Mars

In nothingness, and has to change its gait,

Its long-tailed gait while hurtling through the stars,

We, you and I, are sometimes sent to spin

In wonder by a beauty sent against

Our Wednesday minds, are sometimes sent to win

A serendipity despite our fenced

In consciousness by loveliness beyond

Our daily drudge of thoughtless, thoughtless thought

And find ourselves outside our pond

Which all too often is a scummy naught.

We see an angel butterfly in flight.

Its singing flashes highest heaven’s light.
