“All things around us are asking for our apprehension, working for our enlightenment.”

The robin, whether British or beside
The bobolink, goes munching little bugs.
The hummingbird rides on the breeze bestride
Deep nectar, and the hedgehog slurps down slugs.
A little wasp induces coma in
A caterpillar and inserts slow death
Inside its victim. This is partial sin
And partial love. The caterpillar’s breath
Continues as a baby wasp begins
To munch the guts around it. When the sun
Creates a mole-like tumor, cancer wins
A tiny war—or at least it’s begun.

..These little things, if focused on, appall
….Us, till we see the Buddha in them all.
