Gusts, Lightning and Tornados Recollected

Gusts, Lightning and Tornados Recollected

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

He feels the winds of ancient Greece blow through

His roses, winds that brushed acanthus leaves

Before by Mycenaean gates.  Winds grew

Around him from his past.  His mind achieves

The revelations that he needs from groves

Of orange trees in Florida, the trees

That felt sun’s lightest zephyrs, treasure troves

Of winds, of hurricanes and breezes.  Keys

Of memories are provided by these winds.

He feels the winds of shattered love from years

Long gone.  This bluest hurricane abscinds

With scars and mixes with the winds of tears.

He feels the winds of ancient gods and saints

Unknown, but fights against gales’ wreathed restraints.
