And God smote him ~ 2 Samuel 6:7

Two things of beauty smashed by lighting, split

From life, are proof that God does not exist.

The tree was innocent, but then God lit

The oak tree’s core with volts and hot tongue kissed

Its heart with death.  The tree remained as pure

As Eden lacking snakes.  The lightning, too,

Was innocent.  It could have been a cure

For something evil but Jehovah threw

The bolt to kill.  It killed that other thing

With black hair curled and long.  It killed a brain

Inside those curls.  It killed with godly sting

Of wattage. God cannot escape that stain.

He washed his victim, fast, in waters in

    Virginia, Shenandoah stabbed with sin.
