Falsity in Drag at Best
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
The fact we hold in common with all things
Except our gods and Gods is that we, each
One, has a shadow, but despite this wings
Sprout out from human cores and, thus, we preach
Of higher matters. Gods do not have shade
Or shadow, so we know that shine shines false.
The glorious gods and all such like are made
By us like Hollywood projects its waltz
Of make believe and fiction, Silver Screen
Of dancing lies, a Ginger Rogers flick
All swift and swirl, chiffon in sweeping scene,
Untruthfulness as all religions, slick.
Her Fred Astaire can prance, and she can step,

But our religions, all, can only schlep.
